An Unlucky Mr. Lee

“I’ll never be in time for work again!” groaned Mr. Lee as he dashed to his car without brushing his teeth, not to mention of having breakfast.
[27 words]

Mr. Lee had no sense of responsibility. He had a bad habit of watching television until the wee hours in the morning. He would then be late for work. However, Mr. Lee had never once got into trouble. He was always very lucky because his wife had bought him a four leaved lucky clover keychain. He often got what he wanted without having to do anything. Unfortunately, his luck ran out last Friday. As usual, Mr. Lee watched the soccer finals on his comfortable three-seater sofa. He dozed off halfway through the match and slept through the night. He was awakened by his neighbor’s screaming baby. He looked at his watch and it was 9am. He suddenly remembered that he had an important meeting that morning. Mr. Lee grabbed his briefcase and raced to his car. He started the engine. It roared to life at his command. His car zoomed off like a cheetah. ‘BANG!!! trop, trop, trop’. Mr. Lee’s car came to a halt. To his dismay, he found out that he had a punctured tyre. He took out his mobile phone to call for a tow truck. Unfortunately, his mobile phone ran out of battery!

Poor Mr. Lee decided to catch a bus to work. He saw the bus at the bus stop. He dashed his life after it and only to see it driving further away from him. He missed the bus!!! He had no choice but to run to work.

Mr. Lee finally reached his office building puffing and panting. He was flabbergasted when he saw the “out of order” sign on the lift doors. He was already an hour late. He had to climb the stairs to the 26th floor.

It was pitched dark when Mr. Lee opened the door to the meeting room. He switched on the light. The clock in front of him was ticking 7am. He was too early for work. All the insane rush because of his damaged watch! Mr. Lee was lucky after all.
